Planned withdrawal of services by members of An Garda Síochána on 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th November 2016

As you may be aware, members of An Garda Síochána represented by the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) and the Garda Representative Association (GRA) plan to withdraw policing services on the following days: 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th November 2016. Members of AGSI and the GRA represent the core of An Garda Síochána’s national operational capacity.

The level and extent of the planned action is unprecedented, and the likely impact on the policing environment, although unknown, may be considerable.

As the safety and security of our customers is paramount we will be adhering to the following procedure should the planned withdrawal of services take place. If during this period we receive an alarm activation from your monitored premises and you have an active URN (Unique Reference Number), our Alarm Receiving Centre will endeavour to contact the Gardaí and report the alarm activation in line with the Gardaí URN policy.

If we are unable to contact the Gardaí or we are notified that the Gardaí will not be responding due to the withdrawal of services, the listed keyholders we hold on your alarm monitoring records will be contacted and informed of the alarm activation. We must also stress that at no times should you or your keyholders place yourselves at any risk. Please do not hesitate to dial 999 when you are at the premises and identify a genuine situation.

Can we suggest that you share this information with anyone who may be affected and review the security measures of the premises during the planned periods of withdrawal.

The situation will remain under constant review and we commit to keeping you informed of any future developments.
