When will the Garda be called if I have an alarm activation?

This applies to ADT alarm Garda Response system only. The Garda will be alerted if our alarm monitoring centre has received a confirmed intruder signal from your alarm system, which means we have received two sequential signals from different alarm sensors e.g. from a door sensor and then a movement detector.

Receiving a confirmed intruder signal is a standard requirement from Garda that helps to reduce the risk of false alarm callouts. If only a single activation signal is received, we contact your or your keyholders to inform you of the activation.

Please be aware that if your alarm system must have a valid Unique Reference Number (URN) issued by the Garda or ADT will not be able to contact the Garda on your behalf - even if we have received a confirmed intruder signal

Can I stop the Garda from attending if I have set the alarm system off in error?

Turning the Intruder alarm system off with a legitimate code can send an electronic signal which will cancel the alarm, for our residential customers our Alarm receiving centre will attempt to call the premises before passing any alarm signals to the Garda. If you wish you can also telephone our customer experience team on 01 6205990, you will need to have your customer details and password or verification code to cancel the alarm.

How can I obtain a Garda response for my alarm system?

If you currently don’t have Garda Response service for your ADT alarm, please contact our Dublin office on 1 620 5888 to discuss your options. Depending on your current alarm system, to activate the Garda Response service could be done either remotely, by upgrading your current alarm or by installing a new alarm system.

Once your alarm system meets the requirements for the Garda Response service, an application for Unique Reference Number (URN) will be submitted to your local Garda force, a Garda administration fee applies. Once your URN is issued for your alarm system, ADT will activate your Garda Response service.

Will false activations affect my Garda Response?

This applies to ADT alarm Garda Response systems only. The Garda will withdraw their response following repeat false activations due to either Intruder alarm activations, Communication or Transmission faults or even Personal Attack activations, it is common that the Garda may withdraw their attendance following a third false activation in a rolling three month period.

Following the withdrawal of a Garda Response from your local Garda, this can only then be re-instated by reapplying to the local Garda force after a period of three months with no false activations. In some cases you might be required by the Garda to make some adjustments/upgrades to your current alarm prior to processing the application.
